| Entrance Hall
The Entrance Hall is entered through double oak front doors that face west. The Hall is imposing, and has a wide marble staircase opposite the front door, leading to the first floor. Two more staircases lead to the Hufflepuff Common Room and the Kitchens, while another leads to the Dungeons. The Hall is also home to the four House hourglasses where the House points are displayed for all to see.

| Great Hall
The Great Hall is to the right of the Entrance Hall. The Great Hall contains one long table for each House, and a high table for the staff. The ceiling is enchanted so that it shows a view of the sky as it currently appears outside.

| Staff Room
The staff room is a long, panelled room, with mismatched dark, wooden chairs. There is a large wardrobe, which occasionally becomes infested with magical creatures such as boggarts.

| The Hospital Wing
The hospital wing contains several beds, and School Nurse Poppy Pomfrey's office.

| Trophy Room
The Trophy Room is where awards, trophies, cups, plates, shields, statues, and medals are kept in a crystal glass display. This room also contains a list of Head Boys and Head Girls. The trophy room is adjacent to an armour gallery.

| Dungeons

| Prefect's Bathroom
The Prefect's Bathroom is hidden behind the fifth door to the left of a statue of Boris the Bewildered. Despite the name, this bathroom can also be used by Quidditch captains. The door opens when given the correct password

| Library
The library contains tens of thousands of books. The restricted section has books containing powerful Dark Magic that is never taught at Hogwarts, and is only used by students studying Advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts. In order to use this section, a student needs a signed permission slip from a teacher.

| Ravenclaw Tower
Ravenclaw Tower is located at the west side of the castle. As its name suggests, this is home to the Ravenclaw common room and dormitories.

| Gryffindor Tower
Gryffindor Tower is where the Gryffindor common room and dormitories are. The common room has a fireplace and armchairs. There are separate dormitories for girls and boys, which are subdivided by year. Girls are permitted to enter the boys' dormitories, but boys cannot visit the girls', because the founders of Hogwarts felt that boys were less trustworthy than girls

| Slytherin Dormitories
The Slytherin Dormitories are actually located under the lake. However access is gained in one of the dungeons, and opens when one gives a password to a blank stone wall. It has a low ceiling and low green-tinted lamps.

Hogsmeade is the only pure wizarding settlement in the United Kingdom and is located south of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Third year students and older are permitted to visit the village, as long as they have a signed permission slip from their parent or guardian.
